Structure-Directing Roles of Organic Molecules in the Formation of Aluminosilicate and Aluminophosphate Molecular Sieves Revealed by 2D 1H DQ-SQ NMR Spectroscopy

Understanding of crystallization mechanisms of molecular sieves is driven by the broad range of usefulness and unique properties they possess. It is still difficult to obtain information related to the crystallization mechanism of molecular sieves, partly because the materials are generally prepared under hydrothermal conditions and the whole reaction happens in the “black box” autoclave. In this work, 2D ¹H DQ-SQ NMR results clearly demonstrate that it is not only the electrostatic interactions between organic structure-directing agents (OSDAs) and the framework, but also the correlation among OSDAs playing the dominant structural directing roles during the crystallization process. Our fundamental understanding of the crystallization mechanism of molecular sieves could be of great value to design and synthesize new molecular sieves with desirable structural properties.     

Structure-Activity Relationship, Cytotoxicity and Mode of Action of 2-Ester-substituted 1,5-Benzothiazepines as Potent Antifungal Agents

Our studies examined the structural features responsible for the antifungal activity of 2-ethoxycarbonyl-1,5- benzothiazepine （7a）. Three series of 1,5-benzothiazepine derivatives were synthesized and screened for their antifungal activity. The results suggested that the ethoxycarbonyl group at the 2 position and the imine moiety on the seven-membered ring are essential for activity. The most potent of the synthesized analogues （7a, 7b） were further studied by evaluating their cytotoxicity and mode of action （for 7a）. The results showed that compounds 7a and 7b were relatively safe for BV2 cells, but compound 7a interfered with Cryptococcus neoformans cell wall integrity by increasing the chitinase activity. Therefore, compound 7a was considered safe as an antifungal agent for animal cells.     

In Cellulo Generation of Fluorescent Probes for Live-Cell Imaging of Cylooxygenase-2

Live-cell imaging with fluorescent probes is an essential tool in chemical biology to visualize the dynamics of biological processes in real-time. Intracellular disease biomarker imaging remains a formidable challenge due to the intrinsic limitations of conventional fluorescent probes and the complex nature of cells. This work reports the in cellulo assembly of a fluorescent probe to image cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). We developed celecoxib-azide derivative 14 , possessing favorable biophysical properties and excellent COX-2 selectivity profile. In cellulo strain-promoted fluorogenic click chemistry of COX-2-engaged compound 14 with non/weakly-fluorescent compounds 11 and 17 formed fluorescent probes 15 and 18 for the detection of COX-2 in living cells. Competitive binding studies, biophysical, and comprehensive computational analyses were used to describe protein-ligand interactions. The reported new chemical toolbox enables precise visualization and tracking of COX-2 in live cells with superior sensitivity in the visible range.     

THERMAL BEHAVIOR OF PP/PA6 BLENDS UNDER DYNAMIC CONDITIONS. THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT INTERFACIAL AGENTS BASED ON CHEMICALLY MODIFIED ATACTIC POLYPROPYLENE

The thermal behavior in dynamic conditions of polypropylene/polyamide 6 (PP/PA6) blends with a modified interphase is discussed in terms of the crystallinities of the polypropylene and polyamide components imposed by the processing step conditions and after removal of those constraints by holding the blends 5 min in the molten state in the calorimeter. As interfacial agents, two based on succinic anhydride or succinil-fluoresceine grafted atactic polypropylenes were used. The experimental program was run following the Box-Wilson experimental design methodology. Thermal scans were made using round samples (5 mm diameter and 100 μm thick) cut from compression-molded sheets with morphologies and macroscopic behavior studied previously. Changes of the amount of crystallinity of each polymer in the modified blends are contrasted with the tensile strength values of the heterogeneous materials as a whole; evidence of the different roles played by each interfacial agent acting at the interface among blend components is shown.

Die im Eindampfrückstand der wäβrigen Phase nach der Extraktion verbleibenden Einschlüsse können für die meisten Radionuklide ohne nennenswerte Selbstabsorption mit einem Groβflächenzählrohr oder anderen geeignetenZählvorrichtungen ausgemessen werden.
